The Applied Social Sciences is a module for the senior high school curriculum under the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMMS) Strand of the Academic Track. This module introduces you to three of the disciplines of the applied social sciences: counseling social work, and communication. These disciplines draw their foundation from the theories and principles of peychology, sociology, anthropology, and other social sciences.

The module follows the competencies and standards of the K to 12 curriculum of the Department of Education. It also employs the recommended learning methodologies of the K to 12 curriculum: constructivism, reflective method, collaborative method, inquiry based approach, and integrative method, as well as the philosophy of differentiated instruction.

As the students approach the culmination of their senior high school year, it hope that they gain a heightened appreciation of the applied social sciences through the discussions and the activities in this textbook. Perhaps they may even see themselves pursuing a career in the social sciences.

It hope that this ILG module helps you become competent in interacting and relating to other individuals, groups, and communities; apply social sciences principles, practices, and tools; and analyze how processes in these applied disciplines work in your life.
